The world famous Barrett Jackson Classic Car Auction kicks off it’s flagship auction in Scottsdale, Arizona  January 12-19, 2014.  This year there are over 7,000 items on the auction block.  We’ve compiled a list of the top 6 cars/vehicles to watch:

1. Michael Schumacher’s 1998 F300 Formula 1 Race Car1998-FERRARI-F300

Michael Schumacher sustained a severe head injury while skiing in the Alps on December 29th, 2013.  He has been in critical condition in a medically induced coma ever since the accident.  Not sure if the recent turn of events will turn buyers off or create more interest.  This is an actual race ready Formula 1 car, actually driven by Michael Schumacher

2. Fast & Furious Mitsubishi EVO2001-MITSUBISHI-EVO-2-FAST-2-FURIOUS

This car was driven by the late Paul Walker in 2 Fast 2 Furious.  The car had already been selected for this auction when Walker was killed in a car accident November 30th, 2013.  His untimely and tragic death has created a lot of interest in this car

3. First production 2015 Ford Mustang GT2015-Ford-Mustang-GT

The first production 2015 Mustang is generating a huge amount of buzz in the industry, but it will be interesting to see what bidders are willing to pony up for the first one.

Not only do you get the dragsters, but you also get the transport trucks!  These cars were used at drag strips across America in the 1970’s, racing head to head to promote the Hot Wheels brand.  The Mongoose is a re-creation commissioned by Mattel and the Snake is all original.

5. 1963 Shelby Cooper Monaco King Cobra1963-SHELBY-COOPER-MONACO-KING-COBRA

This Shelby vehicle is extremely rare.  It is one of only 6 built between 1963 and 1964.  The car is thoroughly documented and even featured in the Robb Report’s “Salon Selection” of Blue Chip (investment grade) vehicles.  The car broke multiple world records  in 2012 and 2013 and should be the highlight of this year’s auction.  The car is scheduled for auction on Saturday, January 18th – Prime Time.
